Though yet to be released, the iPhone 5 is already on the shopping list of more than 40 percent of those polled by InMobi.
In a study released yesterday, the mobile ad network discovered that 41 percent of mobile users in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada will buy the new iPhone, with 50 percent of those planning to pick one up within the first six months of the phone's debut.
If those numbers hold true, the iPhone 5 would become the most successful product launch yet from Apple, according to InMobi.

Police in Shanghai have arrested five people who allegedly built, and subsequently sold, near-perfect copies of Apple's iPhone in China, Reuters is reporting.
According to the news service, the people allegedly involved in the ring paid about 2,000 yuan ($313) for all the parts required to develop an iPhone copycat. A media reform group is suing the Federal Communications Commission over the Internet regulations the agency put in place late last year.

Go Daddy's installed base of domain name registrations has swollen to 50 million, dwarfing all of its closest competitors.
The 50 millionth name, dbakit.com, was registered by Indian punter Kranthi Kumar Kukkala over the weekend, according to the company.
Go Daddy's closest competitor is eNom, owned by publicly traded Demand Media, which recently reported that it had 11.9 million domains under management at the end of June.

A new report looking into online music consumption habits shows that since 2009 the number of people who pirate music has dropped by 25 percent in Sweden. The sharp decrease coincides with a massive interest for the music streaming service Spotify. Apple will lead all smartphone vendors in total shipments this year, DigiTimes Research reported today.
According to market research arm of the Taiwan-based news site, 462 million smartphones will ship worldwide this year, up 60 percent compared with the 288 million smartphones shipped last year.
