It was shocking to me anyway that we already have 34 million Americans working at least occasionally from home today. And that’s with broadband to only 56% of US homes. But that’s what the data say. And with our Consumer Technographics survey of 61,033 US and Canadian consumers, you can be confident that the numbers are accurate.
But it’s even more surprising to run the numbers forward to 2016 and see how many Americans will work from home then: 63 million! We just published our US Telecommuting forecast... |

Google has strengthened its mobile services with the debut of a service called Voice that could be a challenge to Skype and other phone firms.
It lets customers make cheap international calls and gives them a speech-to-text feature for voicemail.
The services are available thanks to Google's acquisition of phone firm GrandCentral which gives users a lifelong universal phone number.
"This could be big. Google is seen as disruptive," said analyst Jon Arnold.
"They are a wild card in telecoms and w... |

We recently received Toshiba's latest X305-Q725 laptop, which targets the mobile gaming sector. We have our own thoughts on what is best in this sort of market, and we know plenty of people that think this sector is a joke, to put it bluntly. However, while many people have no interest in desktop replacement notebooks, there are users that want this sort of system, and this review is targeted at that audience. Everything clear? Good, let's continue.
This is the first laptop we've been able to test that s... |

Samsung just went officially offical with the S5600, an affordable 3G touchscreen handset announced at Mobile World Congress, but now it’s got some company: the S5230. The S5230 differs in that it has a slightly bigger screen (3″, 240 x 400) and has no 3G - otherwise, they’re pretty much identical, right down to the TouchWiz UI, 3 megapixel camera, and Shazam-powered music recognition.
One small, interesting difference is that the S5230 has handwriting support, while the S5600 doesn’t - perhaps som... |

Norway's public broadcaster NRK receives 94 percent of its revenue from a license fee paid by TV-owning households in the country, and it's charged not with making money, but with getting its content in front of as many people as possible. To do that, NRK has just launched its own BitTorrent tracker to distribute its TV shows—DRM-free, of course. NRK takes its distribution mission so seriously that it's even providing subtitle files so that non-Norwegians can translate the shows easily.

When it comes to using the mobile web, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone that denies the iPhone’s multi-touch web browsing experience as anything less than top-notch. The mobile world scurried to bring their own touchscreen competitors to market when the iPhone blew up the scene with its inaugural launch in 2007, but no other handset has since been able to come close to the iPhone’s Safari web browser in terms of user experience. And, the latest data on mobile web usage suggests that the iPhone has a co... |
