Google bans Windows from staff PCs

According to a report in the Financial Times, Google is not allowing new employees to use Microsoft Windows, as a security measure. Ofcom names the UK ISPs required to log illegal downloads

Telecommunications watchdog, Ofcom has confirmed the names of the UK broadband providers that will have to act as mediators in the fight against online piracy. It recently published a draft of its Code of Practice in which it revealed initially, only seven of the largest internet service providers will have to conform. Only those with over 400,000 broadband subscribers will be forced to conform to the Code of Practice meaning BT, TalkTalk, Virgin Media, Sky, Orange, O2 and the Post Office will be obliged
 

Bing may replace Google on iPhone 4G

Google has mapped every WiFi network in Britain

HP overtakes IBM in server market

HP grabbed the worldwide market share lead from IBM in the first quarter as sales globally continue to rebound, according to market research firms IDC and Gartner. Apple now bigger than Microsoft

Apple has pushed past arch-rival Microsoft to become the world's biggest technology company. Changes in the share price values of the two in Wednesday's choppy trading left the total value of Apple at USD222bn (154bn). Microsoft is now valued by investors at USD219bn. However, Microsoft still enjoys higher profits than Apple. Its most recent annual net profit was USD14.6bn (ã10bn), compared with USD5.7bn for Apple. Microsoft also reported bigger full-year revenues of USD58.4bn, with Apple on USD36.5bn.
 

IE beats Firefox in business uptake

Global Verge, a multilevel marketing firm, has won a US$43 million judgment against Zer01, the company that once promised to deliver an unlimited voice and data cell phone service. Last Thursday, a judge in the District Court in Clark County, Nevada, ordered that Zer01 and Ben Piilani, the company's CEO, pay more than $43 million for breach of contract, tortious interference with contractual relations and long-term profit losses, said Brian Hardy, a lawyer with Marquis & Aurbach representing Global Verge.
