There will be no retrial for The Pirate Bay, the Appeal Court decided today. According to the Court the judge was not biased based on the requirements of the European Convention, a decision that can’t be appealed.
However, Pirate Bay’s spokesman Peter Sunde says that they will not give up that easily. On his blog he writes, “When people think you’re down and out, that you’ve lost and have no way to win… that’s the perfect time to hit them harder than ever before.”
On Twitter Peter announces that their... |

Google last month reserved 1 million phone numbers with Level 3, signaling that it may finally be ready to roll out its long-anticipated Google Voice service.
The free service, announced in March, lets users unify their phone numbers, allowing them to have a single number through Google Voice that rings a call through to all their phones.
Sources could not say when the 1 million numbers may be assigned. Level 3 has been supplying Google with phone numbers since the introduction of Google Voice, so the... |

In a post Wednesday on Intel's Web site, spokesman Bill Calder wrote that "Centrino" will be phased out as a PC brand, and "will be used as a name for Wi-Fi and WiMax products" and "still be in market on mobile PCs into next year".
It will eventually be discontinued, Calder wrote.
Further, Core chip branding will be "simplified into entry-level (Intel Core i3), mid-level (Intel Core i5), and high-level (Intel Core i7)".

The Pirate Bay has opened beta testing on its encrypted virtual private network which it reckons will stop copyright hassles for anyone wishing to share files.
The only issue for the freetards is the price - €5 a month. The VPN is being used by 3,000 testers right now and there are another 180,000 in the queue. Pirate Bay hopes they'll be online within a month after which the service will "open for the world...".
The pesky pirates have named the service IPREDator after Sweden's copyright law IPRED (In... |

Facebook launched its own IM system, FbChat, back in April 2008. Since then, it’s been working hard on adding features: It arrived on mobile phones last year, added friend lists in May and even has been experimenting with video chat. Now, it looks like that work is paying off in a big way.
Today, Facebook’s engineering team revealed that Facebook’s instant messaging (IM) system has grown like wildfire. Users now send 1 billion messages every single day. That impressive number becomes even more astounding... |

Google continues to fine-tune its mobile Gmail, and the search giant added a few ways for iPhone and Android users to get through their e-mails quickly.
The first addition is faster address auto-completion, which means typing the first few letters of a contact's name or e-mail address will lead to a pop-up of possible contacts. The process is expected to be similar to the desktop version, and it works by reusing previously fetched matches in subsequent searches.
T-Mobile G-1 features Android OS, an in... |

Last month, the French Parliament implemented the new ‘Hadopi’ law. Under the new legislation ISPs have to send warnings to alleged copyright infringers, who would eventually lose their Internet access upon receiving their third warning. In addition, the new law would make it possible to order ISPs to block sites such as The Pirate Bay.
The law goes directly against a decision from the European Parliament, which concluded that disconnecting alleged copyright infringers would violate the fundamental right... |
