Google plans to include support for business users in its Android operating system as soon as this year, pitting it against BlackBerry maker Research In Motion, a senior executive said.

Dutch antipiracy group Stichting BREIN, whose website is still down from an extended denial of service attack, filed a suit against the three Pirate Bay administrators who were found guilty earlier this year of aiding copyright infringement in Sweden—despite the fact that the three claim not to own the site. An Amsterdam court has ordered The Pirate Bay to block all Dutch visitors to its website, threatening the site administrators with daily fines for noncompliance.

Microsoft's Bing team puts the amount of web pages at "over 1 trillion", and Google has already indexed more than one trillion unique web addresses, which put the amount of addresses more than there are people on Earth - the current global population stands at over 6.7 billion, which equates to around 150 web addresses per person.

A Department for Business, Innovation and Skills official has produced a generic Twitter strategy for all government departments, despite the risk of "criticism of jumping on the bandwagon" and "pointless content".
The 20-page document, produced by Neil Williams, BIS's head of corporate digital channels, says that departments can use Twitter to communicate better with the public and it recommends that tweets should be "human and credible".

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has confirmed it had received complaints of widespread SMS messages containing death threats.

An employee at a factory that makes iPhones in China killed himself after a prototype went missing. Apple Inc. offered its condolences Wednesday as the company waits for the results of an investigation.

Google announced an increase in profits today, claiming to have earned £900m in the second quarter of 2009.
Total revenues were over £3.3 billion - a three per cent increase over the first quarter of 2008.

Google is convinced that its popular video site YouTube will start turning a profit for it in the near future.
“YouTube is now on a trajectory that we're very pleased with," Google chief executive Eric Schmidt said during an earnings call. He added that Google is helping marketers and advertising agencies create "great ads easily" for YouTube.

The Palm Pre’s ability to sync with Apple’s iTunes is no more. On Wednesday, 15 July, Apple updated iTunes and put a stop to this capability.
According to the Associated Press, Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said the iTunes update “disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre.”
