HSDPA is an upgrade to the 3G product, and its name is an acronym for Third Generation High-Speed Downlink Packet Access. In ideal conditions the technology offers up to 7.2Mbps download speeds and up to 1Mbps upload speeds, although these are the theoretical maximum achievable speeds. Real-world speeds would be around half the claimed speeds depending on the conditions.
As long as you are in an area that has cellphone coverage, you and your laptop will never be stuck without Internet access because 3G/HSDPA gives you an Internet connection wherever there is cellphone reception.
Unfortunately Virgin Mobile and Cell C do not offer 3g/HSDPA so the mobile broadband packages listed below are for the MTN and Vodacom HSDPA services.
