The Samsung B2100 Xplorer is a phone built with durability in mind. Its tough exterior casing provides resistance to a number of possible issues, such as shock and water. Although it is built with a tough exterior its functionality is impressive considering its target market.
The 1.77 inch TFT display provides 256,000 colour variants within its display. This ensures clarity of image and superb image colour reproduction. The display offers 120 x 160 pixel resolution as well. The phone weighs just over 100 g which means it’s reasonably lightweight to carry and with its relatively small size is not cumbersome, as some phones are when marketed as durable.
The phone offers a 1.3 mega pixel camera at a resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, which is sufficient to enable its user to take vivid snap shots of good quality. The integral flash ensures sufficient illumination. The camera also allows video capture at 15 frames per second, which is a useful addition. It offers viable options for capturing special moments for viewing at a more convenient time. Internal memory on this phone is only 7Mb, However it can be easily expanded up to a more realistic and generous 8 Gb, by making use of the available microSD slot.
For those interested in listening to music an MP3 player is provided. This player supports many file formats including MP3, eAAC and WMA as well as WAV formats. This ensures that whatever songs are downloaded can usually be played on this MP3 player. The phone also provides an FM radio, to enable access to local and national radio broadcasts including news, weather and shows.
