Despite what we think, South Africa has some of the cheapest 3G deals in the world. Our 3G prices are less than comparable countries such as Australia, New Zealand and even the US. MTN and Vodacom have rolled out 3G to the majority of their towers in South Africa and are focusing on offering cheaper 3G data.
Below are the 3G deals available from Vodacom and MTN. Unfortunately Cell C and Virgin Mobile only offer GPRS, so they aren't included in the 3G deals table.
